Sermon Notes -January 17, 2016
A Life of Destruction
Hebrews 7:16 speaks of Jesus as one having…"the power of the indestructible life." This indestructible life is very attractive to me as a pastor and teacher. I often hear of lives that are being destroyed by addiction, divorce, disease and death. In a less severe way people suffer from grief, from missed opportunities in life and from a sense of rejection in our culture. Not only this, but our youth are being raised in a culture where the basic principles of the Christian faith no longer exist or are ineffectual. What is this life of destruction I am speaking of? In John10:10 Jesus speaks of the thief that comes to steal, kill and destroy. We are quite often unaware that there is a force on this earth with the goal of destroying us and our families. This destruction comes into our lives because sin has separated us from God, the true source of life. The salvation the church has historically spoken of and is still speaking is this; a life centered in Jesus with the strength and power to overcome all that comes against us.
